Nice game by the way, I only played the first few minutes of your game, and got kind of confused, but it's a nice idea.

Was it the part where the spirit asks you to find something for her? I think my next upload, which will repair a couple of issues that have come up since release, I might have her give a better hint on where to start looking.

If people went back and started searching every square from the start of the game, that would REALLY kill the pacing.

Also, the Objective Marker really holds your hand in the first section. The map tells you where to go, practically step by step, until you get the first quarantine field dropped.

Breach: Awakening

Thanks! I'm glad people are actually enjoying the demo!

I'm kind of curious if anyone has triggered/beaten the optional encounter yet?

Also, Sabin1981 - I have that same kind of luck when it comes to restaurants. I stopped going/friends stopped inviting me on big dinners, because any time we went out to a really nice place, everyone else had a wonderful meal and mine was either wrong, overcooked, or raw!

Let me know if any more issues I need to fix pop up.

Secret content: How hidden is too hidden?

Triggering the optional "hidden" extra boss in Breach:Awakening requires the player to use a specific item in a specific spot to trigger it. The player gets a hint when they cross the tile in question, but it is up to them to figure out the item to use there.

Thanks, Pyrodoom. It should be working now!
No, still isn't :(

You might need to clear your cache or force a reload. The link worked for both computers I have at my disposal.

Well, if you prefer the conventional spelling...

Breach: Awakening

Good catch! I guess when I made it possible for the player to find the object before talking to the spirit, it screwed up part of the convo-tree.

For now, just make sure not to talk to the spirit again until after you find the object it is looking for.

I'll make an update over the weekend.

NaGaDeMo

Thanks, Pyrodoom. It should be working now!

RMN Battledome 3! Voting!

Match 1 - Recused/Usano&Iris
Match 2 - Mahashanah & EXO
Match 3 - Recused/Questa&Vorgg (Ouch)
Match 4 - Armor Mans & Snorc
Match 5 - Zurgg & Meerla

Now that my NaGaDeMo submission is in, I figured I should vote!

A suggestion for next time/similar events in the future... Maybe instead of linking back to the full post for each character, you could hide-tag a quick summary? By this point, those of us who are voting have a pretty good idea who everyone is/what they do, but next time it could help to streamline things quite a bit!

RPG settings

I enjoy a good cyberpunk setting. Being a child of the 80's, I was raised on that image of the future, and I still like the opportunity to play around in it whenever possible.

Also, I find that when I try to place a project in a real setting, I end up spending inordinate amounts of time on research.

One example would be the Pulp Era Adventure RPG I wanted to do a few years back. It began with a battle to take a castle during World War I and then flitted around the globe, several years later, through Morroco and several other Indiana Jones-ish locales.

The plot concerned Ley lines. I researched a Ley map for the world, and picked locations along convergences for the story, then I read about those locations, looked at pictures, studied the history of them. I tried to find any local folklore that would tie in with my plot or give me puzzle ideas.

I have something like 128 meg of research, be it articles, pictures, saved web sites, on my hard drive for the game.

I had to stop and ask myself, did I want to write a term paper or an rpg?

I'm not saying a well thought out setting is a bad thing for a game, quite the opposite, but in my case it was extremely distracting from what I originally set out to do.

How to fake a First Person view for your (MAKER NAME HERE) games!

Link fixed.
